Lubricating hinges and rollers, checking that the door is balanced, tightening the loose bolts on the track brackets - all of that is reasonable for an owner to do, and it's worth doing twice a year regardless of who built the door. What isn't reasonable is touching the torsion spring. On a door from the early 1990s, that spring has been under full tension for three decades, and the winding cones on original hardware aren't always in good shape even when the spring itself looks fine. We also wouldn't recommend adjusting opener travel limits without knowing the specific board, since boards from this era vary more than current ones do. If the door is visibly off-track, binding, or the spring has a visible gap in its coils, that's a call, not a project.
